Paintings & More Paintings!
September 30, 2009
Teddy and Nibs really enjoyed all the paintings at The Getty Center, taking in works by Renoir, Gainsborough and Winterhalter. The Getty's permanent collection is really something worth exploring. If Monet's your thing, they have plenty of his pieces too!

ReplyDeletethe 3rd must be a dutch painter...they always did still lifes
ReplyDeleteManet? Early Manet?
ReplyDeleteI think the 3rd one might be by Renoir...
ReplyDeleteI think the 3rd paiting is by Karel Appel.... am I right?
ReplyDeleteDoes look very Dutch... Dutch painters were darker. they used a lot of black in their paintings. I think it could be French...
ReplyDeleteI know who it is, I know who it is! I looked it up on the Getty website. The painter is French!!! I will wait for others to weigh in though before I post the answer.
ReplyDeletewho is it? tell us now
ReplyDeletePissarro?
ReplyDeleteOh, now I know who it is....! Should I say?
ReplyDeleteOK, I will tell you: Claude Monet! I know, he usually did lily pads. But in his early days he paitned more conventional paintings like this one.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Winterhalter is a very famous German painter and that is his MOST famous painting ever. Glad Teddy got a photo with it...
ReplyDeletegood job Ninchris, you are right! The 3rd painting is by Claude Monet and looks nothing like his popular pieces...
