Balboa Cafe

April 9, 2010
With Teddy sick to her stomach from all the chocolate she ate yesterday (she even consumed the Turtles intended for Nibs), our favorite bow-tied bear hit the town alone. He had always heard Balboa Cafe on Fillmore Street in the Marina section of San Francisco was full of friendly folks.

Nibs asked for a shot of Coca-Cola to get going. The bartender was nice. Some guy from Boston.

Nibs learned this section of the city is called "The Golden Triangle" because there are three bars on each corner in this small, cramped intersection. That's why it's called a "triangle."

Teddy would like this place, thought Nibs.

Fort Cronkhite

April 8, 2010
The bears decided to take advantage of the nice weather in the Bay Area by taking a day trip to Rodeo Beach at Fort Cronkhite, just a mile North of San Francisco in Marin County.

The fort was used during WWII to make sure enemy war ships didn't secretly glide under the Golden Gate Bridge and into the City By The Bay.

Today fragments of the forts remain. The area is mostly used for recreation like surfing and picnicking.

Teddy and Nibs took lots of photos. They were fascinated by the reddish sand.

Sheesh, Teddy and Nibs have come far lately. Just a few weeks ago Nibs was running all over San Francisco trying to locate Teddy who was in the midst of a tantrum.

Good thing he forgives and forgets easily.

I Want Candy!

April 7, 2010
After a long day of shopping Teddy stopped into The Candy Store on Main Street in Tiburon for some refreshments.

There's nothing like milk chocolate and peanut butter to perk up your day.

She calls chocolate her "medicine." For Nibs she got a Pecan Turtle.

Citrus Shopping

April 6, 2010
Tiburon is best known for its restaurants, but along Main Street are a few enticing shops. Citrus has an uncommon fresh look.

With Nibs busy on his iPhone Teddy stepped in for a looky-loo.

Thirty minutes later she made a purchase. Gold shoes. She has decided this will be her primo accessory for spring because gold goes with everything.

Now all she needs is a big party to go to. Hmmmm...

The Day After The Storm

April 5, 2010
It was a strange Easter Sunday for Teddy and Nibs while vacationing in San Francisco. Not only did they experience a major rain storm, but there was a 4.1 earthquake in nearby Santa Rosa (not to mention a 7.2 in Mexico. Egad!). Today the clouds cleared so Teddy and Nibs took a calm stroll down Tiburon's historic Ark Row.

The bears checked out the quaint shops like Keith Bartel Goldsmith.

The "Row" was landscaped beautifully. There were spring flowers everywhere!

Teddy took a fancy to Saint Germain's Jewels & Art.

So many baubles to choose from! Aquamarine, amethyst, jade... what should Teddy pick?

Let's hope Nibs is in a spending mood.

Good Morning Sausalito!

April 2, 2010
How do bears keep from getting grumpy in the morning? They get premium coffee at Starbucks! This morning Nibs went to the Starbucks on Bridgeway Avenue in Sausalito.

Nibs opted for a latte. Nothing too fancy.

This Starbucks is big! There were many treats available. Nibs picked up a Cinnamon Bun for Teddy.

Nibs was interested in this "San Francisco" mug. He had no idea Starbucks sold touristy things like this. He snapped one up.

Time for a power walk!

Coffee Talk

April 1, 2010
Last night Teddy was fatigued from all her sight-seeing so she stayed at the hotel while Nibs ventured out for an Irish Coffee.

Nibs roamed the North Beach section of San Francisco and settled on Tosca Cafe on Columbus Avenue.

The bartender was very sociable and discussed his early days living in New Jersey. Nibs listened intently.

The atmosphere was pure Italiano with big paintings of Venice and red chairs. Teddy would have dug this cafe.
