What's a Little Scratch?

August 31, 2010
This morning Teddy was enjoying the latest issue of Vanity Fair magazine. So many good articles to read, like the cover story about Lady Gaga.
Gaga dresses funny but at least she's not boring! Did you know she's only 24 years old?
Just as Teddy was getting into the story, Nibs approached her. He looked stern.
"Did you take my Benz out for a spin?" asked Nibs. Teddy replied, "Uh, um, uh."
Then Nibs made Teddy go outside and look at the scratch. "It wasn't me! It wasn't me!" Teddy said over and over... Uh-oh! Will Teddy get in trouble?

Did Teddy...?

August 30, 2010
This morning when Nibs was walking to his Mercedes-Benz, he noticed something a little wrong with his car.
It looked a little dirtier than usual...
...and on the right front fender there was a scratch!
A little white scratch. Can you see it?
Nibs started to wonder if someone, some bear!, had taken his wheels out. Hmmm. He will have to talk to that Teddy ASAP!

August 27, 2010
With Nibs on a power walk this morning, Teddy decided to take his Mercedes-Benz out for a spin because she felt so cooped up in the house all by herself.
Teddy really hasn't driven before and wasn't sure where all the controls were. (Eeek!)
The traffic was surprisingly light (which is great for Teddy because there were less vehicles for her to hit!)
Teddy was pretty sure she knew her way to The Grove... let's hope she made it in one piece!

Nibs Does "Me" Time

August 26, 2010
Last night, with Teddy glued to her Alfred Hitchcock shows, Nibs stepped out for some alone time at the Farmers Market.
"Do you ever just want to wander through a mall and simply look at things?" Nibs asked no one in particular. He had no idea what a Hookah was, but they sure looked cool!
The newsstand caught Nibs' eye. He perused a car magazine. "That's right," thought Nibs, "I've always wanted to buy an old car!" Maybe he should look into that again.
Nibs enjoyed his non-Teddy time (shhh, don't tell her!). He has a thing for history and liked learning about the early days of the Farmers Market.
Afterward, Nibs looked over the old Gilmore gas station they have on display for nostalgia.
Nibs felt so relaxed! He promised himself he would do this more often. Every bear needs a little "me" time.

The Equalizer

August 25, 2010
Last night Teddy wanted to get her mind off it all by watching vintage TV. She popped the popcorn and tuned into an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents titled The Equalizer (1958).
It's about a pretty blonde woman named Louise, played by Norma Crane...
...who cheats on her boring, predictable husband Eldon, played by Martin Balsam...
...with the confident, successful Wayne, played by Leif Erickson.
Eldon finds out about the affair and confronts Wayne, asking him to meet him for a gun duel.
Unfortunately for Wayne, Eldon is setting him up. You see, Eldon doesn't mind dying. He already feels dead inside after Louise's betrayal. So he tricks Wayne into killing him point blank. Wayne is left holding a smoking gun when the police arrive. Eldon? He has NO gun on him. So it's murder. Looks like there will be some jail time for Wayne! So gory! So crazy! Teddy made a mental note to NEVER cheat on Nibs, not even a little.

One Year Anniversary!

August 24, 2010
Teddy and Nibs' blog has been around for exactly one year to the day. The bears celebrated with a large breakfast of scrambled eggs (Teddy's recipe of caramelized onions and sea salt), potato bread toast, coffee and raspberry juice.
Teddy toasted Nibs for putting up with her shenanigans, like when she took off for San Francisco and he had to hunt her down, which led to a "talk" at The Pelican Inn.
Nibs toasted Teddy for her zaniness like when in an effort to find Fopsie a mate she called his friends, asked if they were single and if they said no, she hung up on them. Yes, said Nibs, he found out about that. ("Eeek!" thought Teds.)
Teddy just chuckled uneasily and commented on how good the French Roast coffee was.
Then Teddy joined Nibs in his chair and said, "Here's to more adventures, Nibs!"
What do you think the bears should do next?

Down To Urth

August 23, 2010
He called! He called! Fopsie was so thrilled when Herbert rang her up for another date. His suggestion: The Urth Cafe on Beverly Drive.
Fops went early and waited for him. She was so nervous she kept reading the menu over and over again.
When he finally arrived he said he was starving and ordered the pesto veggie sandwich. Fops liked that he had a good appetite.
After the meal, Fops sipped on a Chamomile Tea and asked Herbert about his life in England. He said the weather got him down. So much gray.
Fops felt there was something mysterious about Herbert. He didn't talk a lot about himself. His cousin Teddy, on the other hand, always talked about herself. Hmmm.
Any weird thoughts were wiped away when Herbert insisted on treating Fops to a decadent dessert. He seems like such a gentleman. But Fops really wants to learn more...

Another Talk...

August 20, 2010
Last night Teddy got her act together and approached Nibs about a talk. He didn't look like he wanted to get into it with Teddy as he was hiding behind his book, SuperFreakonomics: Global Cooling, Patriotic Prostitutes, and Why Suicide Bombers Should Buy Life Insurance.
Teddy was so nervous (apologizing is very hard for this bear) that she just blurted out, "I'm sorry I was so rude Nibs. Please forgive me!"
Nibs had a good laugh over Teddy's hysterics then asked her, "Are you really sorry or do you just want me to stop being mad at you?" Teddy said it was the latter.
Nibs appreciated her honesty, but then explained that it wasn't a competition over who could find Fopsie the best man. It was a team effort. And they both succeeded.
"You're absolutely right," said Teds. She had never looked at it that way before. Hmmm... Now she was really sorry she had been rude to Nibs and, subsequently, a real apology came forward.

Teddy Delays The Apology

August 19, 2010
Instead of going home to Nibs to make that big apology, Teddy stalled by heading into Cost Plus World Market, just a hop-skip from Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill.
Cost Plus has the best imported candy. Yum yum.
They also sell some pretty fantastic artificial flowers that really, really look real.
The furniture is also imported (thus the name WORLD Market, get it?). This divider would be great in Teddy's living room.
When Teddy tested this chair out she wondered if she could spend the night in the store. It was comfy enough and she was sure no one would notice her.
That way Teddy wouldn't have to go home to face Nibs. She just loathes apologizing!

Fops Talk

August 18, 2010
Last night Teddy took her pal Fopsie out for a crazydeliciouscaloric dessert at Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill near The Grove so they could talk about, what else, Herbert!
Fopsie said she really liked Herbert and thanked Teddy several times for making the introduction. When it came time to order, Teddy insisted they try the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream on top.
Teddy then revealed to Fopsie that she got in a fight with Nibs over the business of matchmaking.
Teddy was more interested in eating the dessert than talking about Nibs, but she did anyhow, and when she was done describing the fight, Fops said, "Teddy, you need to apologize right away!" Grrrr. Guess there's only one thing left to do: say she's sorry. Phooey.

A Nibs Day

August 17, 2010
Instead of facing sour Teddy, Nibs headed to Los Angeles airport to watch the planes land.
The planes came in every two minutes and made such a loud noise Nibs almost had to cover his ears with his paws!
Some got so close Nibs felt he could touch them!
That plane above is from Alaska airlines and probably came from San Francisco, Teddy's favorite city.
If you ever want to plane watch yourself, just drive to the In-N-Out off Sepulveda Blvd. Now Nibs has to go home and face Teddy. Gadzooks!

Teddy's Solo Night

August 16, 2010
Nibs must have been really angry because he didn't come home all day or all night! So Teddy ventured out on her own. For months she has wanted to try the well-reviewed Waterloo & City in Culver City.
The menu was quite odd. A lot of fusion stuff with special sauces. Teddy wasn't sure her palate was ready for this.
Teddy settled on the Shrimp and Zucchini Blossom Fritters with a spicy sauce.
You just can't go wrong with fried food! Teddy wished Nibs were with her. Hmmm. Maybe she will have to apologize after all! Poor Teddy. She's always having to say she's sorry.
